The Cricut does not use any die cuts from any brand. You must put in Cricut cartridges and programs it to cut out shapes. It is more like a little computer on its own. (no it does not hook up to a PC)It is electric.

Spellbinders are die cuts that use a die cut machine to put pressure on them and cut out paper. Sizzix Big Shot or Big Kick will cut out Spellbinders, Cuttlebug, Quickutz and of course its own die cuts. You can buy the Sizzix machine at JoAnn's, Michael's or Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon. Sizzix is a manual machine
References :
http://www.cricut.com/shopping/
